Auditioned for The X Factor in London where she sang “Somewhere Over the Rainbow”. Leona Lewis won the third series of the British reality talent show The X Factor in a landslide. Born and raised in the Islington section of north London, Lewis won a talent show at the age of 13 and devoted herself to music thereafter, eventually graduating from the prestigious BRIT School for Performing Arts and Technology. All the judges were impressed and put her through. Made music history when her debut single was downloaded 50,000 times in just 30 minutes. Released her single “A Moment Like This” in December 2006 after winning The X Factor. She is the first female winner of The X Factor, and the first mixed-race person to win. Won The X Factor in 2006. Lewis now lives in Hackney and has been with her boyfriend Lou Al-Chamaa, an electrician, since she was seventeen. Lewis and Al-Chamaa have known each other since Lewis was nine years old and they grew up on the same street.
